What a start to the Year. c.21% with Risk Score 3. This is more than I could have expected. We did make 26.25% in November 2020 but with higher risk. This month we hedged a lot and protected the profit a lot once it reached 24%. I think we managed this month perfectly and I hope for more months like this throughout 2021.
In fact, crossing 20% is actually accomplishing the goal for a year. This is extraordinary. It also puts us in a good headspace to make the right decisions for the remainder of the year. We will aim at crossing 40% profit to make it even better than 2020. Once March 2021 comes, our drawdown will reset and we expect to reach black star - with 10M AUM.
Let us reflect on the month and its most important instruments/positions:
🔹 $TRXC +367% An amazing number for TRXC which received a lot of positive news this month. Q4 revenue reached 1.1M with prediction for FY202 of 3-3.2M and IMPORTANTLY - enough cash to support operation into Q3 of 2021. Then we recently received MASSIVE NEWS: the EU Approval for our machine vision system. We ended the month with Capital Raise at 3 USD and we also approached 200-day moving average at 4.22. We took some profit with an average of around 400%, we are up as of today at 635% and we approach 1000% when we reached highs. Consequently, I believe we will cross 4.22 to approach 5 in the coming months which more than justifies this being our biggest position still.
🔹 $BNGO +242% Another massive growth and we reached +1300% here overall and took some profit. We went to the moon with the news that Saphyr System identified structural variants that may provide key insight into Covid-19 pathogenesis. We also see an Analyst raising his recommendation from 2 to 14 which catapulted the stock price even further.
🔹 $HMMJ raised 45.4%. I wrote about the medical marijuana business a lot in the past where I shared a graph saying it will triple in the next 7 years. The time has come for this ETF to grow and the pace exceeded expectations and rewarded us for a long term vision. It was one of the most ¨annoying¨ position we had before and we had to trim, close, and reopen. Good to see we were right in the first place - reward for long term value investing. We are currently at 81.5% profit and we keep holding.
🔹 $0992.HK has been behaving phenomenally all December and January, growing another 25% this month. @LexanTeh raised this stock before we entered the Christmas Season and we are very glad to have made our own analysis and joining the train. We are close to the price for perfection, what do you think Antonio?
🔹 $VXX rising c.18%. That is perhaps the most interesting - we actually made 18% on volatility and market downturn. VIX was the biggest position at some point and was then overtaken by TRXC and then slightly trimmed during the Inauguration ceremony of President Biden. Later we also opened TZA, UVXX, and SQQQ - all making us ready for potential further going into the red. We also held c.20-30% cash, all leading to Risk Score 3 ✅
🔹 $ATNX generated another 17%. It used to be our Top 3 position but we let it go with year-end - closing all the losers. Thankfully, we re-entered at an amazing price and took almost all the growth this month. We like what the company is doing in the Oncology space and their rich pipeline of drugs ready for commercialization make us long term shareholders.
To be sure, not all portfolio grew. Aston Martin stayed largely flat. UK and Spanish stocks either lost a little or hovered around 0. Brazil and India experienced further problems with Covid-19 and other geopolitical risks and did not really grow.
All this assures us that the portfolio is super strong. We rebalanced at the end of the month and are stronger than ever.
